Kenny Dorham

What I have to say about this trumpeter is about his blowing style. I'm not very certain how to express this in English, but it's sort of like horse's walking pitch. Not too fast but quite steady. If you want to know what I'm talking about, you'd listen his the best album called 'Quiet Kenny'. He was so-called one of the underestimated players, and actually didn't appeal too good to most of jazz fan of his age.

Jeff Watts

When I first saw him, or rather beaten by his playing at a live jazz club in Cambridge, MA, he looked somewhat sullen, so I wondered what he's angry about. But it was wrong. He was really pushing hard the soloists by sending out all kinds of rhythm patterns. The most astonishing play ever heard is an album of young and most talented trumpet player Wynton Marsalis, called 'Standard Time Vol. 1', where Jeff shoots unbelievable backing.
